Considering Dental Implants?
Dental patients in the Gorham and Portland, Maine area are discovering that dental implants are the beginning to restored dental health and appearance. Missing teeth or damaged teeth that can no longer be restored can be replaced permanently with dental implants or bridges; or with removable prostheses. The experienced dentists of Morgan Dental Care, Dr. Ted Morgan and Dr. Amanda Rockwood, carefully evaluate each patient to determine if dental implants are an appropriate method of treatment for missing or damaged teeth.
Dental implants are small titanium implants that replace the actual root of the tooth. The implants are placed into the bone that held the natural teeth. Through a process called osseointegration, the bone fuses with the implant thus holding it securely in place. This is important not only in replacing the teeth, but also in preventing the bone from shrinking and causing changes in the facial structure and appearance of the patient. Once the dental implant is firmly in place, a crown, bridge or other dental prosthesis can be attached to the implant restoring the missing tooth or teeth.
Missing teeth can cause many health issues. Bone may shrink or change as a result of a missing tooth. When a tooth is missing, the other teeth tend to shift and move as well. This causes misalignment of the teeth and disrupts chewing function. Ultimately, these changes can contribute to gum disease, trigger painful jaw joint problems, and lead to damage of other teeth. These problems don’t have to develop. Through dental implants, an entire tooth can be replaced from root to biting surface.
Damaged teeth, as well as missing teeth, make people feel self-conscious. Maybe you cover your mouth when you laugh or smile. Do you avoid even talking or laughing in front of others? Are you ashamed to eat with others because of problems caused by your teeth? You shouldn’t be compromising your quality of life over your teeth when solutions are available. If dental implants are right for you, your teeth can be restored to a healthy state and appearance. You’ll be proud to smile when you feel confident about your teeth.
Dental implants are considered highly effective and safe. For many people, however, the very idea of a trip to the dentist causes increased anxiety and ultimately, avoidance. The dentists at Morgan Dental Care, Dr. Morgan and Dr. Rockwood, are certified as sedation dentists. Using Oral Conscious Sedation (pills, no needles), the dentists are able to administer medications that allow the patient to feel completely relaxed and calm during the dental procedure. These medications are safe and the dentists monitor the patient closely throughout the visit. The patient is not put to sleep, but simply feels completely relaxed and comfortable.
Don’t put off improving your dental health and appearance another day. Morgan Dental Care can evaluate your dental needs and discuss the possibility of dental implants with you. Make an appointment by calling 207-839-2655 now.
